How to change your server software/version

πŸŽ₯ Video Guide πŸŽ₯

In this article, we will learn how to change our server software in the panel! We offer multiple versions of the most popular softwares out there, and installing them has never been easier

πŸ”Œ Changing your server softwareπŸ”Œ

First, go to your server you want to change the software for, and go to the "Server Version" section, at the left hand side.

You will then be presented with a list of options to choose from. We are always adding more game types, so make sure to check back often! For this guide, we'll change our server software to Paper

You can choose which specific version of PaperMC to install. These versions are fetched automatically, so you can check back later as to when these are available, and automatically install them. Just click the "install" button, and your new server software is now installed!

You will have successfully changed your server software! It's as simple as that.

πŸ”€ Changing your server version πŸ”€

If you want to change your server version to a particular build, you may follow the same process by navigating to the "Server Version" section, choosing the software you want to install, and selecting a version from a list of our available versions

We do not store any experimental versions of server softwares. You can read below on how to use your own custom server software for that!

🎯 Updating to a specific version 🎯

To specify a specific version you want to update the server to, follow these steps:

In the startup section, under the variables part, you can specify the exact build number/mc version you want to install. For example, for PaperMC, you can specify the minecraft version, and the build number according to their version history.

For forge, you must have NO spaces in your version number. So if you see 1.19.3 - 44.1.17 for example, you must input the version as 1.19.3-44.1.17.

Then, go to settings and re-install your server. You should be on the specified version!

πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» Using a custom server jar file πŸ§‘β€πŸ’»

If for any reasons you may not find the software you want on our panel, you can always upload your own server.jar file to the server and utilise that instead! This will let you run forks, your own software, and also run any experimental versions of softwares that are not found!

First, download the file that you will be uploading to use. The most popular softwares will often have download pages to get the particular version you are looking for.

Then, you can upload this file in our file manager using web upload or sFTP.

Finally, you need to make sure you are using this particular file during the server startup. So, navigate to the "Startup" section, and modify the Server jar file field to the uploaded file name. You may also just rename the file to server.jar , which is the default file the server attempts to load

You will now have used your own uploaded server jarfile!
