WitherPanel FAQs

This page is used to talk about any frequently asked questions that users have regarding our articles we have published for the WitherPanel. It aims to resolve questions and misconceptions that people have. Let's get started on the frequently asked questions! We'll go article by article

🗃️ Accessing files using sFTP 🗃️

How can I use sFTP on mobile?

On android, we recommend using the app Termius - SSH/SFTP and Telnet client
On iOS, we recommend using FTPManager

I'm getting a connection closed error

This means that you might have entered the wrong port, or a wrong IP. Please ensure the details are correct, and try again. Remember! The password is your panel's password

How do I upload folders and numerous amounts of files at once? It takes so long to upload!

In this case, it is advised to zip the files to a zip archive and upload the zip file to the server, then unarchive there. sFTP has faster connection to upload a single file than to upload multiple, since multiple files are uploaded one by one, in queue.

🌍 How to use our Location Changer 🌍

Help! It says "Your service has a default port! Please contact support to migrate your service. Thank you."

In this case, you need to open a live chat ( the blue button at the bottom-right ) to move your server between locations, as the transfer tool cannot determine if your dedicated IP is available on the location you switch to

My transfer is taking forever! What's happening?!

If your server has a lot of files, the transfer will take longer. More the files, longer the transfer. On average, our nodes take 2 minutes to transfer 1gb worth of files. Your files are also compressed to ensure there is lesser download needed to migrate your server, then they are automatically uncompressed at the target node!

I'm certain my server doesn't have a lot of files, it's still stuck!

In this case, you need to open a live chat ( the blue button at the bottom-right ) so that we can resolve this issue.

🔀 How to change the Java Version for your server 🔀

I can't set my docker image as it says "This server's Docker image has been manually set by an administrator and cannot be changed through this UI."

In this case, simply open a live chat to get your issue resolved, we will make it so that you can choose docker images again for your server!

What if I want to use my custom docker image?

Open a live chat and send us the docker image that you want to use. In some cases, we may not allow custom docker images to be used, however there can be exceptions!

I don't know what Java version to choose/what docker image to choose!

Remember, to run forge for 1.16.5 or older, you need to have the Java 11 image. For servers under 1.12.2, it is advised to have Java 8. And for servers above 1.17 it is required to have Java 16. For bedrock, the docker image doesn't make much difference unless you are running a custom software!

🖨️ Creating servers with a Multiserver 🖨️

It says "You didn't reach the maximum ram requirement."

If you are typing the units, such as mb, or % , please remove those values and try again. Please also ensure you are specifying a RAM, CPU and Disk limit within your resources limits, so that the server gets created successfully.

I can't create my multiserver even though my location I chose shows available!

Someimes, the system takes time to update which locations are available, and which locations are completely out of stock. In the event a location is in low stock, sometimes servers might create, and sometimes they wont.

👉 How to use our subdomain manager 👉

The subdomain that i created says its taken! What do I do?

Someone may have already taken this subdomain, so try again with a different subdomain, or with a different domain name entirely.

I deleted my subdomain in a server and now i'm trying to add it in another server, but it's not working.

Open a live chat so we can resolve this issue for you!

🔀 How to change your server version 🔀

I don't understand if I should reinstall the server or delete files or do nothing and start the server!

If you're switching to a really old version, for example from 1.17.1 to 1.8.9, we advise deleting all your files and then reinstalling the server. If you are upgrading to a better server version, you can simply apply the version, and then start the server. If that still doesn't work, use a reinstall.

The version manager doesn't work! Files don't arrive in my file manager.

If this is the case, the download link may be outdated on our end. Please contact support by opening a live chat and we will look into it

🎮 How to change your Server Software 🎮

My server is still on the old software!

We advise deleting your files and then reinstalling the server. If you're upgrading to a better software, for example from spigot to paper, simply reinstall and there is no need to delete files.

I have a multiserver. I can't change my game type to any non-minecraft game!

As our server software changer is applied to both minecraft and multiserver services, we cannot allow non-minecraft games to the server software switcher. So, if you want to switch games, we advise deleting and re-creating your multiserver with the new game software during creation, as you can choose non-minecraft games there! If you want any custom software, feel free to open a live chat and ask us!

How to use our Schedules

My schedules are spamming on repeat instead of working how I want to!

Make sure that you follow all the correct rules while making a schedule. For example if you are scheduling something to happen every 6 hours you must ensure the minute field has 0 instead of *. We advise checking this site to learn more and understand how to read schedules

What is the maximum number of tasks I can run per schedule?

You can run a maximum of 15 tasks per schedule

📩 How to use our backups system 📩

The backup is showing as "failed". What do I do?

Please contact live chat so we can undo this backup and backups should be able to work after that. It might just be a one-time error.

My backup is not loading/taking a long time to back-up!

Based on your server file size, backups time may vary. For example, a 300gb server takes 1.5 hours to backup, due to having a lot of files, but a 1gb server can backup within a minute. Please give it a few minutes and only if you see the failed status is your backup not actually working.

It is taking such a long time to restore my backup!

Once again, following the same concept of how making backups takes time, restoring a backup also takes time, relative to the amount of files your server has.

🔑 How to create ports 🔑

What if I need more ports?

Simply open a live chat and if you explain why you need more, we may apply more ports to your server!

🫂 How to use our subuser system 🫂

Can a subuser see my personal details?

No, subusers cannot see your personal details

Can a subuser use my multiserver account to make and delete servers?

No, subusers cannot make or delete multiservers on your account. The only solution would be to give your account to them, but that is risky. Proceed with caution.

🗄️ How to create and access a database 🗄️

How do I access my databases?

You can go to the link https://db.witherhosting.com/ and put in the login details that your database has to access. You can view these details by going to databases --> clicking the eye icon on the database you want to access

What if I need more databases?

Simply open a live chat and if you explain why you need more, we may apply more databases to your server!

My config file for putting database details doesn't match the one in the article, how do I know which is which?

There can be different ways the plugins handle config for their database connections. Reading the config should be enough to figure out what should go where (hostname/IP, database name, password, etc). If you are having difficulties with this, feel free to open a live chat.
